Hi all
Well I have seen an occupational therapist today and I am going back to work the week after next!
It will be done very slowly at first with a programme like this:
Week 1 working 10am - 12pm (2 hours)
Week 2 working 10am - 12pm (2 hours)
Week 3 working 10am - 1pm (3 hours)
Week 4 working 10am - 3pm (5 hours)
Week 5 working 9am - 4pm (7 hours)
Week 6 working 9am - 5.30pm (8.5 hours)
I will be paid 100% for the hours I work and 75% for the rest.
They are also putting a condition in this that if anyone at work is ill then with something like a cold, sore throat, stomach bug etc then either they do not go into work or I work at home (this is because the medication I am on reduces my immune system so I pick bugs up more easily)
It is going to be so weird going back after 9 months off but I cannot stay here forever and I think I need some normality back to my life.
I am sure I will get some comments from a few people at work about this phased return but it is done for a reason so I will go along with it.
Let's see how it goes anyway!

Hello nic,
I hope all goes well for you, just gone back myself after some time off so know to some degree how you feel, best to do it slowly. Best wishes nan x
Nic, I hope it all goes smoothly for you :D
Love Kate xx
Aww nic,
I hope it goes well for you hun, we're gonna miss you being around in the day too.
You're right to be doing it slowly though, you have to look after you and its good to hear the bosses are protecting you from any illnesses, like colds etc.
best wishes

Nic
You know my opinion of this. I think 8 and a half hours after only 6 weeks will be too much. I'm not saying it will cause you to be ill but i do know how tired you get and that is alot of hours out of one day you will be unable to relax.
I am really proud of you for doing this but if you start to struggle then please cut your hours back.
Best of luck with it and take it easy!
Loads of love
Lisa

Thanks Nan, Kate, Di and Lisa
They have told me that if I find things too much then I must tell someone and sort the hours out. The plan above can be changed at any time but they wanted to give me something to aim for.
Can't say I want to go back but needs must with money etc.
Sorry nic hae,nt been on for a while so do,nt know what been going on with you. I hope you are feeling better and wish you well in returning to work , take it easy . xx

Awwwhh, wishing you all the best with your return to work.
You can do it, but remember if you need to slow things down, then do it, don't let it get to the point where it's detrimental to you.
Good luck!!
Chrissy

Hello Nic,
It is good to hear you are feeling strong enough to make a return to work; it must be a comfort to know your bosses are easing you in gently and are sympathetic to your well being. I am sure you will get back into the swing of things; as you say it will be good to get back to a sense of normality. Take care - xxx
best of luck nic, i need to catch up on here and it sounds like things are finally on the up for you. huge hugs cos u r a lovely lady xx

Nic,
I know in some ways you will be glad to get back to a normal way of life. I do wish that after 3 hours a day they could make it two weeks at a time from the 5 hours a day thereon. If you can, and I'm not kidding on this one, I would wear gloves like doctors do. Many viruses and colds are passed on before people even get ill. You might also want to wear a mask too. Do I sound overprotective? I think I do, but it is because I care so much.
Best wishes,
Laura

Thanks Laura
Work are going to make sure that if anyone is ill they are kept off work and I have some of that hand wash stuff in my bag to use all the time.
I will be ok I am sure and my consultant said to be careful but not stupid and hide away from people forever.

I am going back Wednesday! I am kinda freaking at the moment - it is a big step after being so ill and off so long but I have to do it for the money.
Good luck nic. A phased return is a good idea. It sounds as if they are going to really take care of you if others have been told to stay off. You're bound to feel nervous and tired at first - you'll have a new routine at home as well. Take it slow and say as soon as possible if you don't feel it's working. Once your employers have made all those concessions for you, the onus is on you to tell them if you feel you are not coping. Hope it goes well.
Hi Nic:D
Hope the return to work is going well
Roger went back to work last year on a phased return and it worked very well
Best of luck:flowers:

Not going so well at the moment.
I have forgotten how to do my job and they are stressing me out so I have to tell them on Monday it is too much too soon.
I don't think they realise how long I have been off and how ill I was!
:hugs: :hugs: so sorry to hear that it is not going well for you :hugs:
BUT you are right to say enough - when we are at the delicate stage of trying to get back to ""normality"" WE soon realise what we can and can't do - but non-sufferers have NO IDEA of the effort we are putting in:ohmy: they are to quick to judge.
Best wishes

Hi Andy, June and Laura
I am now doing 3 hours a day so working 10 - 1.
I work until 12 then I am allowed to sit in the canteen and have lunch with them.
I told boss I was finding it hard work and he said they would help all they could.
Still hate it and still very tired in the afternoons and not sleeping at night.
Hoping it will get better soon though!
Hope it all gets better and easier nic, it is hard going back after a long time off isnt it, but its nice to see your on the mend and getting back to normal...whatever that is:)
Take care

Hi Nic,
I know you are probably tired of take meds and I think you don't like to take them but is it possible they could give you something to help you sleep at night so you aren't so worn out at work? It might help as I know a good night's sleep is crucial for healing and for you to be pushing your body, brain and such being at work after being gone for such a long time. I know that no-one can possibly understand how difficult it is unless they have been through all you have and you still aren't near 100% yet. Just a thought.
Love and hugs,
Laura

:bighug1: Nic,
So sorry to hear about your cold. No wonder you got it though with your immune system so low though. I do hope you get to feeling better and this may sound very odd and not comfortable but you might consider wearing a mask to work and keep one of those hand sanitizers on your desk to keep your hands germ free. I do hope your system gets stronger.:flowers:
Love,
Laura
Hi Nic:hugs:
Hope you feel better soon:flowers:
Luv to You Alex and the cats:bighug1:
