Hi

For the past few days I have had horrible throat symtoms. It started off hurting not like a normal sore throat though. A sharp pain every so often. Now it feel like a tight feeling now and again. I am a very anxious person and its all I can think about now. I probably making it worse

Im getting more phlem in my mouth too. Never had it before. Have all the other anxiety symptoms.

Anyone else get it?

Thanks Hunny. When I mentioned it to my mum yesterday she told me it could be angina. Well of course I went into a major panic and now its all I can think about, thus giving myself a panic attack last night!

Hi Mandie,
you are definately not alone in these feelings and they are anxiety symptoms. I have suffered on and off with horrible throat problems, feeling of food stuck in throat everytime I eat, not being able to clear throat, lump in throat, tight feeling, sore neck, sore throat, feeling as if my throat has a scratch in it, feeling like I cant breathe or swallow or maybe even choke.
I have been to the doctor for various blood tests and examinations I was convinced i had cancer but the doctor and people on here reassured me it was anxiety and eventually I accepted it but even now it comes and goes depending on my anxiety levels.
For loads more exampls have a look through the health anxiety board or type throat into the search box and loads of topics come up.
hope this helps a little

Mandie

I wonder how Mum came up with that one ..

It is normal when you're stressed to send your throat muscles into spasm or they get tight kididng you that you have a lump , blockage etc..

It is also normal to get thick saliva and more of it alternating with a dry mouth

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

hi mandie, i get this loads. The throat can be tricky in that as soon as you think you have rid yourself of one sensation another comes up. I have had every sensation described on this site and then the other day it just started to be sore constantly and i kept getting these pains/twinges in the sides of throat and adams apple area. I was convinced it was something more sinister but my doctor checked my throat today and said there was nothing wrong with it - just anxiety again.

Anyways try not to worry too much and my sore throat lasted days, the more i worried the longer it lasted, so just try and let it pass as best you can cos i know it can be really painful and scary.

hope this helps, take care, linz

I think this is the worse symptom for me. It drives me nuts.
I know it's hard but if you can relax and take your mind off it, it will get better
hope you feel better soon
