So as iv said iv got mega anxiety about the biopsy results from my sigmioscopy, and iv just realised I hate missed calls everyday for the past week or so from an unknown number, but no messages on my answerphone machine, and as far as I know no calls to my home phone. Would they be likely to try there too? I feel sick with panic :(

Hi did they say they would call you with the results? I would think that they would definately leave you a message, either on your mobile or your home phone if they needed to contact you. I know how you are feeling though and its horrible. When did you have the procedure done?

Last year my 2 year old son had to have investigations for a lump on his back, he had an x-ray and the consultant said that he would call if there was anything concerning. I honestly think that if there was anything untoward found with your biopsies then you would have been left a message, they would'nt just keep trying your phone and not leave a message if they needed to contact you urgently. Or they would send out a letter if they were'nt having any luck contacting you by phone. Could you not call them and ask for your results?

I know how hard it is to think of things rationally, but if your procedure was done a week ago they would have almost definately left you a message by now if there was a problem.

I hope you manage to calm down a little.

Usually the results are sent to your doctor and they let you know. Contact your GP surgery and ask if they have arrived. Good luck.

It depends on who asked for your sigmoidoscopy, if it was your GP then the results would go to him/her direct.

If it was a consultant the results would go to him and he would call you in or send a letter to your GP and you would get the results from him/her.

I have an MRI every six months and the letter goes to my consultant and a copy to my GP. I usually phone up to see if the tumour has grown.

I am sure everything will be OK anyway.:)

So they could ring even if its good news? Or call me in, even if its okay?

:hugs: :hugs:
If the hospital were trying to get in touch with you ---- they would have left a message asking you to contact them.
They would not have left the results of your test.
Next step
If it was your GP who orderd the test see him / her
If it was a Consultant at the hospital ring them ----- phone the hospital and ask to speak to his secretary and see if they can give you the result.
They can also tell you when yoru next appointment will be.
Talk to them calmly and have a pen in case they give you another number.
I hope this helps :hugs:
Best wishes

Unless the consultants secretary has said she will ring you when they get the result they don't usually. But you can phone them or contact your doctor for the result.:)

Just thought, did you have your sigmoidoscopy at the hospital or at your GPs?

The hospital. I say someone there and he refered me, is that a consultant-

I would call your doctor on Monday and ask if he has the results in.

Your GP would have referred you to see a consultant who specialises in gastroenterology who would have then arranged for you to have a sigmoidoscopy (or may have even done it himself) am I correct?

When the results have been typed up a copy would be sent to your GP along with a letter from the consultant.

I am sure that they would have called you in if there had been anything to worry about that is if your results are back. If they are and they haven't called you in :yesyes:
