It is not that bad - no worse than normal flu.

Wash your hands and you will be fine.

Gemma

Nicola is right hun. people are panicing so much about being infected with this but when you weigh up all the odds, less people die with this than normal flu.

Basic hygene by hand washing etc makes a huge difference.

Please try not to worry too much

Please do worry the newspapers have made it sound as if it is the Ebola Virus.
Only those people below need to be aware of it.

people with chronic lung disease,
people with chronic heart disease,
people with chronic kidney disease,
people with chronic liver disease,
people with chronic neurological disease,
people with suppressed immune systems (whether caused by disease or treatment),
people with diabetes,
people who have had drug treatment for their asthma within the past three years,
pregnant women,
people aged 65 years and older, and
young children under five years old.

A local teacher has it but I am not worried and the children are expected to attend school as usual.

What is the population of your town?

As of the 6/7/09

There have been 7,447 cases of swine flu in the UK and there have been 7 deaths definitely caused by it.

I have :

people with suppressed immune systems (whether caused by disease or treatment),
people who have had drug treatment for their asthma within the past three years

and I am not worrying that much. What will be will be and if I get it I will get treatment.

As you say you will either get it or you won't there is no point worrying about it.:)

trixie i wish i had your focused mind when it comes to illnesses

As for swine flu there has been quite a few cases where i live and one of my friends sisters has been diagnosed with it! however she has had quite a few health problems and that is the reason she has caught it! and she isnt that ill with it apparently she is just a little under the weather and doing really well! she described it as not different to normal flu maybe even milder so please dont worry!
