Ok, does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop googling symptoms one might have?

I was told I have General Anxiety Disorder but the more I read on, I seem to think I have Health Anxiety. Everytime I get the slight ache or pain anywhere I think I am dying of a heart attack or stroke.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately, its a will power thing. You've got to recognize that describing your symptoms to the internet is an unreliable way to get a diagnosis AND has the potential to send your anxiety out of control.

You've got to distract yourself.

This page on the No More Panic website has some good ideas:

yeah like tiredocd said its about will power ..........
also dont try this at home lol but im trying to learn to read about things and realise that this does not definately apply to me.
for example so i can read about a horrid disease and still feel fine to kind of desensitise myself!

all the best (try and stay away from dr google)

Yeah..I'd advise against that from personal experience. Many times I've googled a serious disease, then said to myself "I cant have this, because I dont have these symptoms here", only to find my anxiety conveniently creates them for me within minutes of reading about them.

Sounds funny when said like that, but...it's really not...
