I have been taking 20mg of citalopram for over a year and recently decided to stop. I have tapered down to nothing over the past 2 months. I have been completely off for a week. As far as side effects go they have been minor. A little dizzy here and there, a little more anxiety, but nothing I can't handle. The last few nights I have noticed that I am dreaming a lot more. On top of this I can't stay asleep! I have no problem falling asleep but find that I am waking up (especially towards the morning) every half hour or so. When I do wake up I have very little trouble falling back asleep, but I wake up tired and groggy. Do you think this is just a side effect of coming off the medicine, or happening just because I am thinking about it too much?
