OCD self diagnosis

Hi everyone! Just wondering whether anyone has used the information on this website or in the forum to diagnose themselves with OCD? I have read lots of stories on here and so many of them match my symptoms. I would consider talking to the doctor as I am seeing her on Tuesday. What were your experiences of being diagnosed and were they positive experiences?

What were your experiences of being diagnosed and were they positive experiences?

I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a particular thought out of my head for 6 months. Out of desperation, I spoke with a psychiatrist who's father had treated me as a child.

He told me, his father's notes said I had OCD tendencies and explained my problem like that.

So, I was diagnosed by accident.
