I am over the moon to find out that hundreds of peeps suffer the same as me:D but there is one more thing, i now this is not involved in PA but I suffer Scoliosis, curved spine going side to side:(. I dono anyone else who suffers the same as me so i was wondering if anyone else suffers scoliosis as well.

oh yes im not alone. iv been on sauk and iv got letters etc from them, ill have to admit they dont have the stuff i need.

benoo5 iv had a normal xray, a deffonate curve, a scolio gram which measures a curved (2nd one on march or feb)and a horrible bone scan. im gonna see a specialist on feb 10th hopefuly, let ya now wat goes on

i dont like posting about my family,but because your in real pain,i thought i might be of help.

my eldest daughter lydia,who is nearly 23 ,was born with a serious cleft lip,and pallet...so bad,she only had one nostril...anyhow,after six operations,she has become a beautiful young lady....at the age of 16,she was then diagnosed,with a cirviture of the spine...after two operations,at the royal orthopaedic hospital,in stanmore,london...she now has to fight off the boys.

she now works for sky television,as a production assistant,and travels the world,meeting superstars,that only you,and i can dream of.......i know your back hurts,it will do,but if you need surgery,just remember,your in the best country,in the world,and we have the best surgeons in the world...and you will reap the benefits,you have a long life to lead,and i know your life,will be great.

thanx for the encurigment. is ya daughter okay now. Iv had pain for 2 years and been diagnosed for nearly a year (this april). My mums a matron of the otherpeadics so im gonna get the best treatment other wise my mums gonna have steam comin from her ears.

Matt: Ihavent been given any exercises which is not good. Ill have to ask next time i see someone. I also have to be careful wat i do like pe and exercises coz if i do a mistake then im in extreme pain for 2 weeks usually.

At least your mum will guarentee you get the best treatment so try not to worry!!

Funny once, my grandad needed sugery but they kept on moving him down the list but once my mum stood next to him and the nurse said looking at mum ''ok he'll go into theatre in a hour.''Mum stood there untill it was an hour l8r. She can be strikked.

i had scoliosis big time. i had a spinal fusion in '93[i was 12], to help correct it. they put 2 rods all the way down my spine. i grew 2 inches that day:D

yes,my daughter grew a couple of inches,after the same op as yourself.

jade,my daughter also suffered aches,and pains in her back before the surgery..but she is now,a hundred percent fit..as you will be..god bless you..bryan.

it 50-50 chance that i need sugery, the longer if have pain the higher the possibility.

I have a thin magnetic pillow and bracelet. My mum bought them for me when I started this panic lark.
Have to say the pillow did make me sleep better and the bracelet makes me feel 'safer' when im wearing it.

it is, in ashford, just 16 miles away from where i live. me and my mum were worried if i had to go to london, 60 miles away from where i live

im really worried though in case my spine has gone curver

Dont worry, my friend had scoliosis when we were at school and by the time they finished with her she had a lovely stright back, she had great posture too..better than any of the rest of us!!

hy jade,only an xray will be able to show,if theres any connection between your pain,and the scoliosis,and also if theres any further curviture of the spine...i know your worrying about the result,but its best to find out if there is a problem now,at your age,as correcting the problem,if there is one,is easier at your age,than say ten years time.

write down any,and all the questions you need the answer to,and take them to the hospital with you,i know your parents will discuss everything with the consultant,but if your worried about anything,dont be afraid to ask him/her as well.
let us know on monday,how you got on,and we can talk again,as theres no point guessing at this stage...i will be thinking of you little one......bryan.

hy jade,my daughter had surgery,and wore a back brace for about six months afterwards,it was uncomfortable,at first,but she soon got used to wearing it,its worn under your T shirt,blouse etc,and doesnt protrude,in fact only you will know your wearing it,its just to keep your back straight,its quite often used instead of surgery,and can be very effective in straightening mild curvitures.

Ok the results:

I went early, very early, and straight away i had a scolio gram (bryan would know) then i took my big file of x-rays to my specialist and he done sum examinations on me.


now, my spine has increased by 1 degree, but that is good in 9 months so my spine stands at 30degrees, i may have sum physio to help the pain.

also my condition has a new name:

ADOLSENE IDIOPATHIC THORACIC-LUMBAR SCOLIOSIS

iv got a new appointment on febuary (havent got a date yet) and i feel a bit worried as my right hip is higher then the other (you can really see it!) and you can defenatly see the curve without an xray

not too far away now, im feeling really worried about it (well i tale over my mum, she gets paranoid!!!)

didnt need an x-ray
small risk that if i had a baby itll have scoliosis
i can have a baby normally
increase risk of back getting curver
back will never be straight (that got to me)
pain WILL go when iv stopped growing

THINK I HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE THAT I HAVE SCOLIOSIS IN MY SPINE,ALSO
MY RIBS ARE FUSED TOGETHER AND I HAVE 3 DISKS MISSING FROM MY SPINE AND MY COLLAR BONE IS SLIGHTLY OUT OF LINE.

I WAS DIAGNOSED WHEN I WAS 18 WHEN I STARTED GETTING SWELLINGS AROUND MY RIBS, I WAS TOLD IF IT WAS CAUGHT WHEN I WAS A CHILD I WOULD OF WORE A BRACE, THEY OFFERED TO REMOVE ALL MY LOWER RIBS BUT BEING A ANXIOUS PERSON I REFUSED TREATMENT.
I WAS ALSO TOLD I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CARRY A PREGNANCY FULL TERM (WHICH I HAVE DONE TWICE) AND THAT POSTURE IS VERY IMPORTANT .

I GET A SEVERE AMOUNT OF PAIN FROM MY SPINE WHERE THE DISCS ARE MISSING, I FIND HOLDING MY ARMS UP FOR MORE THAN A MIN HURT LIKE HELL.I OFTEN WONDER IF THE DIZZYNESS I FEEL ALOT IS RELATED TO ALL THIS BUT HAVENT ASKED MY DOCTOR.

IT CAN RUN IN FAMILYS ( MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER HAD IT) SHE WAS ALSO AN ANXIOUS PERSON IF I REMEMBER RIGHT.
MY DAUGHTER IS NEARLY 8 YEARS OLD AND DOESNT HAVE IT AS FAR AS I KNOW,WILL GET HER CHECKED.
