Hi All,

I've had a Panic / Anxiety Disorder for just about 2 months now and it has recently got worse.

I feel really, really dizzy, like I'm gonna faint any second. I am breathing heavily and shortly, it seems like I really can't breath and feel like I'm going to pass out and die [V]

I had Chest pains the other day, which really scared me, think it is heart problems.

Also, my arms and legs really ache, which I think I'm having a heart attack and going to die.

Is this all Anxiety related?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm really concered that I will faint though, I feel dizzy/faint even when I'm sat down :( Do people with Anxiety faint, or is it just the really bad faint feeling?

Hi Matt,

It is absolutely anxiety related. You are prbably hypoventilating. If you look on the forum there are a lot of good breathing exercises worth trying. You feel faint because you are short of breath and you are short of breathe because you are anxious, that will also cause the chest pains.

I starting to get a bit better now but the breathing is still my main problem I feel like I have to sigh or yawn to catch my breathe properly and panic if I cant. I also feel like someone is sat on my chest. Ringing any bells?

Try not to worry I know thats a stupid thing to say but the anxiety will cause all sorts of weird things to happen to your bodyand your mind for that matter

Try to relax and breathe deeply through your nose and out through your mouth.

Take care and pm me if you want to talk further.

Hi Matt,
sorry you are feeling so scared right now, not any sound advice to offer really, but, i have suffered with anxiety for a long time now, the main symptom being dizziness (which i hate) but to date i have never fainted. It is the fear of fainting that makes us worse, and then we breathe incorrectly and the viscious circle begins Everything you describe is very common with anxiety/stress problems. take care and keep in touch.

hi Matt,

What you describe is very normal amongst anxiety sufferers. It is also common to think that it must be something more serious but it's not..

Hope we can offer you some good support here!!

Hi Matt

I have had anxiety and panic since I was 17 I am now 37, I actually think previously to that I suffered but it went away as quickly as it came, your symptoms are totally symptomatic of anxiety and panic, the fear of fainting is a very intense feeling I know and can sometimes leave you feeling breathless with chest pains because you are hyperventilating! Now I am sure you have had advise on breathing and to be honest it was not until i came on here that I learnt how important breathing techniques were, I now use them as part of my anxiety management and it does work!

Read extracts from the NMp site and read some of the forum, this will help and guide you into understand your symptoms better and anytime you feel bad you can always PM me.

I have agoraphobia and health anxieties and the fear of heart attacks is such a common one with panic attacks because the symptoms are so similar !

Take good care and deep breaths !

Matt

Have you been checked over by your doctor ?

You are jumping to conclusions here . I'm not picking on bits, I'm trying to keep some perpective and rationality.

If you do pass out- that is not death, its just a faint

If you haven't fainted yet after 2-3 months its unlikely that you're going to now. Very very few panics actually end up with a faint even though we all say we're on the verge of one.

Leg pains have nothing to do with heart attacks. Chest pains in anxiety are usually intercostal muscles

You are not going to die from anxiety.

Hi Matt,

I went through the same thing! I have been having bad anxiety for about 9 months now. First of all when I had my first panick attack I was hyperventilating really bad I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT!!! and did I NO! After that first attack I had bad anxiety ever since. I have been put on all kinds of medication some I couldn't take and had to discontinue. But now I am starting to feel alot better. For about 2 weeks I felt light headed and dizzy all the time. It really scared me..... SO I went to see a neuologist and you know what he said.....???... THAT I AM DOING IT TO MYSELF!!! and he put me on a anti-deppressant and it really helped I dont get light headed anymore or dizzy. For a long time I THOUGHT that there was something wrong with my heart too... but since all the meds are working for me I have no chest pain at all... Anxiety can do so much to you... you wouldnt even guess... Chest pain is anxiety related and so is dizziness... TRUST ME!!!!!!!!! I went through it all... And it is really scary I know! But just remember that it wont kill you..If I were you I would go see the doc for some meds maybe.. But that is up too you!!

I hope this helps you!!

Take care!!!!!!!!!!

And you can pm me if you want to talk or have a question...
