I could do with a little reasurrance that anxiety disorders can be overcome.
These past few days have been quite bad for me and I fear that I will never get better. I feel so isolated right now, like noone knows what I am going through, I know this is selfish because there are lots of people on this forum going through exactly the same as me.
I seem to be doing really well one day then totally filled with fear the next.
Can anxiety be overcome completely???

Chris,
I know a few people who have suffered anxiety and panics and have overcome them completely, I believe with time and positive thinking we can over come anything. You know where I am hun if you need me.

Hi Chuckle,

There is definitely.

Try and not fight the symptoms as much, the more you worry the more you stimulate those nerves.

First Anxiety...then panic attacks...now GAD and depression...now working on a better future!

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi Chris, I think all different people have different anxiety levels, some people have asthma, some have poor eyesight and I think all different people have there own problems in one way or another. I am 56 now and just got over my last bad 2-year anxiety spell. I have suffered anxiety, panic and phobias now for about 40 years but when I look back I think I have always been a nervous type of person. I don’t know if there is a full cure as really there is nothing physically wrong with us, Even though I have suffered all these years I have had many better happy years than bad ones. Its not really a cure, I think its how we look at things and have to learn not to let things worry us and constantly tell yourself we are happy and well. It then all falls into place but is slow doing so. I think most will always be slightly nervous people but learn to cope and feel pretty normal and happy. I am 99% better than I was 2 years ago and gone from doing nothing and hating life to being quite happy and keeping busy. I think we always get bad days when we feel anxious and down (but who don’t?) and as we are more anxious than other people we let this worry and get us down. I think the answer is to carry on and do it anyway no matter how we feel. Then life becomes much more happier, but as I say all takes time. Take care. Vernon

I think in my case it is a trait to worry exesively . The focal points have changed 20 years back it was AIDS , Last year it was tumor in my head , then it was BP , now it is related to cardiac .

Also I faced shocks , mys sis expired suddenly 20 years back . I lost my father to CA , My mother passed away when she was bedridden , my daughter went thru cancer , my wife has sizphrenia but is genrally ok .

Shocks and personality have caused this in my case . I get off at times but get back .with some or other worry . And to top it I am Asthamatic .

I believe they can yes. There are times I go through periods of utter and absolute hopelessness, rampant paranoia and suicidal thoughts (I guess I'm not alone in these thoughts but sometimes it feels that way), but I remain positive.
I know that these thoughts will become manageable and eventually hopefully vanish.

Thank you all so much for your support.

I have felt really, really anxious and I have had alot of de-realization too.
I just couldn't think of anything except my symptoms.
I am picking up a little bit now, but I am so scared incase I cannot get cope if the same symptoms return again.

hi Chuckie

In answer to your question yes I think so. My diagnosis was anxiety with depresion. Well the last few days have been very positive, I am getting good medical treatment, and am having positive thoughts again. I am hoping that this is the start of the climb back, so I say again yes we can beat it and we will beat it
