Such a thing as lip cancer ?

Hi I am sorry this sounds weird, but I am terrifed I might have cancer or something in my top lip. I suffer a lot with cold sores but over the last few weeks my top lip keeps getting the tingling feeling I normally get before a cold sore comes but no cold sore has arrived my lip has just swells up to a massive size stays like that for a while and goes down again, well I have woken up this morning and my lip has swollen up while I have been asleep and now its double the size. I am so scared there is something seriously wrong with it. Any thoughts ?

Lips are funny things, and there's lots of infections you can get in the area especially if they're dry/chapped/cracked. It really doesn't sound like cancer though. Just a thought, you said it happened overnight, is there a possibility you could have been chewing your lip in your sleep?
