Ringing in Ears

I've got really bad ringing in the ears, it's gone on for several months now, it's like a high pitched squeaky type noise that's worse when it's quiet. Anyone else get this?

i sumtimes get that also and my gp said it was tinitis (dunno how its spelt) but they said they normally shringe your ears but they said that they have stopped doing that now and give ear drops instead thats what i had to do put ear drops in - plus it could b a build up ow ear wax another thing that my gp mentioned
