Hi Everyone,

Had labs for 5 months now scared with the feelings of anxiety and panic attacks. Been to doctors loads of times had all the blood tests done with loads of ECG's and everything normal. But need to find out if I have the same as everyone else.

When i'm waiting to sleep I get the feeling that I'm being pushed of a cliff. This whoosing sensation comes over me.

shooting pains in the left chest, sometimes I feel if i have to keep gasping for a second breth.

Any little pain it sets of a chain reaction of OH NO whats that. I go light headed and dizzy and feel as if I'm going to faint. Has anyone else felt these feelings. Also i feel my left armpit is tight

Thanks

Lee

Hi Turns,

Welcome to the site, you've taken a step that will be very beneficial to you. I know what you mean about the cliff feeling, i always struggle to describe it but I know what you mean. I have exactly the same problem where any little pain sets me off thinking the worst. I get very dizzy and have to stop myself from fainting. I have had armpit tightness as well but have now realised this is usually down to exercise. Sure you will find this site a great help.

Welcome ,

The pushing off thing is totally normal, although there are variations on the theme. It's just your body really relaxing and moving from alpha to beta to theta brain waves.

Chest pain - stretch them out - likely to be tight intercostal muscles.

Dizziness - normal everyday anxiety reaction

This is your real problem that you need to work on to recover.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi Lee

Can totally understand the symptoms you describe.

As Meg suggested, I certainly find stretching the "problem" muscles help to relieve tension.

With the diziness, I sometimes find it helps to try to grab a quiet half hour or so and just concentrate on breathing and relaxing.

The diziness has been a big problem for me the last few days - almost as if the rest of my body is two steps behind what my brain is telling it to do, and then feel unsteady.

Distract yourself with nice things/thoughts and it should help to subside.

Take it easy!

I used to get the pushed off a cliff feeling i thought of it as a rollercoaster though, anyway it has completely gone away now as I invested in an Ipod and listen to podcasts or audiobooks as I try and go to sleep with one headphone in......It really helped me loads!
I hope this helps x
