hello everyone. recently i have been having really high blood pressure readings when going to the dr. usually around 160/90. the thing is im only 22 male and relatively healthy. when i go check it by myself at the drug stores it is usually around 120-130/80. but some days it is alot higher. i dont know what can be causing this. im wondering if anxiety has a part in it. it kind of scares me cuz i dont want to drop dead of a stroke or heart attack. the thing is i drink about a 6 pack of beer a night. i dont know if that could raise my bp that high. i dont have health insurance

Sounds like white coat syndrome where it is always higher when you see a doc.

Alcohol will raise blood pressure yes

I think I would cut back on the beer for sure. It isnt the most desirable BP for someone your age but defintely fixable. Anxiety plays a major part. I can have low blood pressure but when I am anxious it goes high as does my pulse. I am on Propanolol which helps with anxiety, pulse and blood pressure. Increase your activity and eat well.
