Hi,

Dementia is a serious disease that typically comes with aging. Stess and anxiety can also cause memory problems to occur. When you have anxiety and especially health anxiety one of the worst things you can do is google. Please try and take some deep breaths and say to yourself that you are okay. I would also keep a journal and write down how your day was things you did and it will help jog your memory of what happened (I do this).

Take care,

Laura

Hi : )

I know when im most anxious and/or stressed my memory gets terrible... i say the wrong words and get in a flap about stuff.... it does sound very much like these things that are happening to you are caused by the stress of worrying about all these health issues, heart etc etc.

I do think you should speak to your dr to get some help with these worries because at 14 you have so much to look forward to.

Please try not to worry and get your parent/carer to go with you to an appointment to discuss your worries if that's possible.

You will be ok i promise you xx

I know when my anxiety was at it worst, I could remember anything and my mind was foggy all the time - it does sound like anxiety what you are saying, but I would defo go see your GP if only to try to put your mind to rest.

I agree with the others: don't worry too much. I have spells of this as well, I say the wrong words, forget what I was about to say, forget what I just saw on tv, etc.
But this is only when my anxiety is BAD and I do know my memory is fine in general (I can recite 300 digits of pi ;) ). So again, don't worry too much, and when you accept that this is just the anxiety you will start getting better.

I was worried about this too as I have a terrible memory (turns out it's just caused by an underactive thyroid so you may want to get that checked.

This Morning (The TV Show) did a feature about dementia,a lady rang the show to say she keeps misplacing things and finding them in odd places, the doctor on there said, even if you put your Car keys in the fridge it doesnt mean you have dementia, it's when you forget what Keys are then you have a problem.
