...but I googled a symptom (enlarged hamulus .....oooer!) and discovered what I have; scleroderma. So there's something new for me to panick about.

DON'T GOOGLE SYMPTOMS...... YOU'LL HAVE EVERYTHING OUT THERE!!!

ill agree with that....ive been known to do the odd google search for symtoms...its a nightmare....even if i havent got the exact symtom ill imagine i have....agggggggggghhhhhhhhhh! lol

The thing with googling is that even if the first sites don't turn up something scary - you will continue to look until one does.

It is extremely rare that Health Anxiety sufferers ever find comfort from googling as the words chosen to search with are usually biased to start with, so you will only search out unbalanced information.

That is so true Meg, I found that if I didnt get the results I was looking for, I just altered the words in google until it came back with something that put the fear of god into me..... i feel such an idiot about doing that, but I;ve learnt to leave diagnosis to professionals.

thats so true people.....searchin for symptoms never does any good.....for me anyway......its helps to know im not the only 1 out there like that..lol
