I am a new member and am 45 years old. I have been suffering from panic and anxiety attacks since I was 21. At times I wake up 10 times a night with major panic attacks. When I wake up I am so scared, shaky, and cannot breath. I always tell my husband I need to go to the hospital because there is really something wrong with me and I am dying. I always think what I am going through is totally different than before, but my husband recognizes the signs and knows that is a panic/anxiety attack. He is always good to try to calm me down, but is very hard to calm down when you are going through these attacks. Lately I have been having constant anxiety and feel like I am losing my mind. I am normally a healthy person who works out 6 days a week. I eat healthy foods and try to do things right to take care of myself. Now with the constant anxiety I feel out of control. The only time I feel okay is when I am working. I am a hairdresser and can cope well at my job. Does anyone have any information to help me cope with this problem. I did go to the hospital a couple of days ago thinking I was having something really wrong with me and was given xxanax. Then the next day I went to a neurologist. He thinks it is anxiety that I am going through, but is going to do a CAT scan and some nerve tests. Please someone give me some information if you have gone through the same things.

Hi and welcome to the site.

You are not alone and we are all here to help you.

It isnt easy suffering how you do and i do understand how it feels, we worry that it can be anything when really it boils down to anxiety. Trust me as you will know it isnt a easy experience and we thing the worst of it and worry it is something more. I didnt accept it until i had no choice to but you have seen the signs.

Hard i know but dont worry about other health aspects as anxiety does this to you. We are all here to help.

Love Sal xx

Hi Nanckat,

I suffer from anxiety attacks and when I get them I get short of breath, like there isnt any air in the room, i get shakey and numbness in the limbs and a pain in the chest, like a bruised feeling... i thought i was having heart failure until i found out it was the anxiety

Hope you feel better soon
