mental health assesment what is this?

im not sure if this is in the right place? my doctor said he would put me forward for some counciling again. i recieved a call from the nhs mental health team to arrange a home visit for an assement i assumed i would just get a councilor to talk to straightforward this has freaked me out a bit they sound more serious im dubious does anyone know who or what this is for?thankyou xx

Don't worry. There are different types of therapy and support. They just talk to you to find out what your problems are and what would be most appropriate for you.

Agreed. This is a normal assessment than any reasonably competent doctor should submit you to before deciding on a course of treatment. Psychiatrists are simply specialists in mental and emotional problems/disorders, so they are the best people for you to speak to, as they will know far more than your GP.
