Hi there everyone

I have GAD and depression and it is bloddy awful at times to cope with. I have had a return of symptoms after the death of a friend and too much work.

I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone else feel that they are living with their worries 24/7 - like living in youur head with all the fear and worries???

2. I feel that I am the only one that is suffering so badly - wondered if anyone had this?

3. Feel like I will never recover from this bout of anxiety?

I would appreciate any feedback or comments as I feel terribly alone, abnormal and freeked with the intensity of symptoms.

Regards everyone
Joanne

the answers yep to all three questions from me.. i just try to be positive though..sometimnes i feel so alone and that no one can feel as bad as me but i know i'll get better, i'm already a lot better than i was before and if i just learn to stop obsessing over what i think or what goes through my head and just go with the flow, i know i'll feel better and i know you will too.

Hi Joanne

I appreciate how you feel, its like whatever you do it wont leave you alone. I wish sometimes someone could just come and take the worry away if only for an hour to see what it is like to not constantly worry.

Take care.

Love Sal xx

Hi Joanne

Welcome to NMP !

God you sounded just like I did when I join this forum! I can relate to all your feelings and I know how isolated this can be, but the one step in the right direction is finding this site with people who can relate to you, which has proven one thing so far

Your not Alone !

your head is yours and only you control it, thats why you have it with you 24/7 the only way to change that is through releasing those negative thoughts and turning them into positive and in order to do that you need either CBT or councelling !

We all feel like it will never go, but on this site you will come across hundreds of people on the road to recovery including me!

it takes Elephants and small bites ! dont think it will happen overnight because it wont, it takes time and determination and support and this is the right place to come for that

Dont lose faith it does get better

Take care for now and keep posting

Hi Joanne,

Im just going to give you an insite into my negative thought pattern that has been ruling my mind for quite sometime.

as soon as I get up in the morning these are some of my thoughts:

1. Oh no, is it morning again. Have I really slept.
2. I hope Im not going to feel ****ty today, will I get a panic attack.
3. Why is this happening to me.
4. Why do I feel so down.
3. Why is'nt this Citalopram making me feel any better.
4. Why are my hands sweating.
5. I think im cracking up. What if I end up being sectioned?
6. Just get out of bed and do something, have a shower and breakfast.
7. I hope my Daughter is ok this morning (she does'nt live with me)
8. What if something happens to her and Im not there for her. (she has been knocked over my a car before and hospitalised.)
9. Im not a very good father for not being there for her.
10. Shall I just move back with my ex so maybe everything will get better.
11. Maybe it's the mercury in my dental fillings making me feel so down.
(Im a having them removed as an holistic dentist says that may be the cause, and I've read so much stuff about it on the Internet)
12. Will my current employers make me redundant? ( although they have reassured me they will not).
13. Why does the world look different everytime I look outside.
14. The list is endless...

Hope this makes you feel that your not alone.

Thanks for all your replies - it helps to think I am not alone yet somehow I still feel scared out my wits.

I have had anxiety since I was 18 ( am 35 now). Always been frightened of mental illness. It has always been my obsessive worry with anxiety.

I am really struggling at the moment as a friend of mine from work suddenly fell ill with depression and comitted suicide ( she'd never been ill before). This has so freaked me out - nothing feels safe anymore and I am worrying when it will happen to me. The thoughts are very scarey, terrifying even.

Regards

Joanne

*I am worrying when it will happen to me*

By asking yourself when and will, you are perpetuating the idea inwardly that it is a certainty which is making you feel soooo much worse.

Instead you have to tell yourself much better messages that you are fine and improving and do not have the same issues or illness that your colleague did.

Its just the power of suggestion working and you're allowing it to infiltrate.
