Good afternoon,

I know this isnt a forum for career advice, but thought I would post this on here as you are all a friendly bunch! I have been working in sales for 8 years now and several different telesales jobs. Each time I get bored of them very quickly, leave and go and do something very similair. I'm really getting sick of it now, and the pressure doesnt help the anxiety. I've tried training to be a driving instructor but didn't really enjoy that. I have no idea what I would like to do, does anyobody have any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Likes in previous jobs: atmposhere, speaking to different people, the money!

Talents: able to get on with people easily, very hard working, determined (in the right job!)

Dislike in previous jobs: Pressure, office politics, repititive tasks

Aspirations: I have never really known, it's something I definitely need to look at now. The most specific I can be is I want a succesful career!

Hobbies: Usual general kind of stuff really, socialising, watching films and tv etc, trying to work on fitness at the moment as well

IT is what I have wanted to do for a while, Just seems difficult to get into without experience. Another interest I have is tourism so i'll look into that as well. It may be difficult to retrain in something else, I need to have a fullt ime job due to financial commitments.

I'll let you into a secret, i have a back up plan if it turns out i have no career aspirations. Im in my 3rd year of my degree and have no idea what i want to do, whether i want to do some postgrad work (unlikely as i would never be disciplined enough to do any research) go into a full time job (unlikely as back home i live in rural dorset and theres no jobs) or stay in exeter and see what comes up, (unlikely as all my friends will have left and i'll be here on my own)

So you can see my predicament, this is my back up plan

For just under £4000 you go to thailand and spend 6 months training to be a scuba diving instructor, everything is done through PADI and is all legit etc. The cost covers accommodation, teaching, unlimited dives, top of the range scuba diving equipment which you get to keep afterwards, exams etc etc. After you have completed the course they help you to find a job in Thailand if you want to stay, or you can travel the world exploiting your new skill lol

Considering how expensive it is to live in this country i think £4000 is reasonable just for 6 months rent and living expenses, but it also includes full training, its a bargain and something i will be saving up to do after uni hurrah!

I realise that its probably not what youre looking for! But its such a good opportunity that i cant help telling people, i spoke to my brother recently and mentioned it to him and now hes going to do it and i bet he does it before me too, its not fair lol

Good luck with job hunting etc, at uni we use the www.prospects.ac.uk website, which is apparantly good for finding out what training you need for different positions and where you can train.

Thanks for your help Alice, the scuba diving in Thailand sounds absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately for me I have to clear some debts off first and my girlfriend really doesnt want to move abroad. Or even away from Birmingham! Thank you for recommending that site as well, i'll have a look when I get home.
