Hi all,
I am a indian medical student, studying in Ukraine. I have started to have panic attacks since 2 weeks. My main fear is that i will go mad, and that no one will be able to control me, or be able to make me reach my folks who live in india, if i do indeed go insane.
My neurologist said its the estrogen that hyperactivated the vegetative system, and that it will take some time for it to calm down.
I had coke today, the caffeine triggered another attack, and here i am. I went hunting for panic attack info and found this site, and i must say it is very very helpful. Alot of people around me dont understand the seriousness of a panic attack, and they think its irrational fear.
Hope i find solace with all of you.
Monica

Hey Monica,
I'm new here myself, but I have to tell you just knowing there are others who are experiencing the same thing you are helps so much.
I'm sure you will find this site as helpful as I have. Caffeine is definately a trigger for anxiety sufferers, I avoid it like the plague. Welcome aboard!

Lots of Luck to you,
Terri Lynn

Hello Monica

Welcome.

Your fears of going mad are extremely common ones and not one that will come to pass. I was very similar to you too in that I feared I would not be able to reach friends and family if crisis struck. Read Megs story on the home pages.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Welcome to the site.

Love Piglet:)

"Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it?" said Piglet.
"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.

Hi Monica,

Even my first panic attack happeend when I was abroad. It can be a challenging experience. But believe me it is defenitely possible to get a lot lot better. Find people to talk to, which is a challenge if you have social anxiety, but a slow and gradual progress is certainly possible and do not worrry things only improve after undrstanding the problem, they do not go bad.
