I just wondered as everyone seems to be really stressing about it.

*I have done my check list.. ie I don't have to go anywhere if i don't feel up to it I explained to the people that mattered what was going on with me at the minute.

* I'm sorted with the xmas gift shopping ( done online .. fantastic!!)

* Food shopping half done, the other half will be delivered on xmas eve.

* My dad's train tickets are booked for him coming here for xmas (12 days in total!!).. which would normally stress me out but I told him what's going on too.

Now I'm just starting to get chilled and enjoy the whole xmas experience.

Roll on xmas... I want my pressies :D

I'm actually enjoying Christmas for the first time for years, because I'm not trying to do too much this time.

- Not traveling anywhere over Christmas (reduction in stress levels: 77%).

- Online Christmas present buying - the only way to do it.

- Didn't organise any parties at our home because both of us have been sick constantly since late November.

- Christmas socialising - if I feel tired, I go home, rather than drink to keep going.

- We are just cooking for a small number of people this year AND we have organised it, with stuff prepared in the freezer, etc.

- I'm doing some things that I WANT to do, rather than feel that I SHOULD do this year - went in to Manchester to the German Market - didn't even try to Christmas shop, just ate, drank and people-watched. Bliss!

Yippeee... I gave up looking at this thread as everyone seemed so miserable!

To be fair it's been a bit of a rubbish year for me and like you i have taken all the stress out of xmas ( as much as i could anyway!)

I'm not travelling nor being escorted to random family xmases.. mine or otherwise.

I done all my pressie shopping ages ago and online ( i agree it's the only way to do it)

My dad is coming here ( we're picking him up tonight)

I'm having my very first xmas in my new house and i'm doing it my way with just a few people.

I will be social but again it's been arranged for my house to be the center of the parties.. and i've dictated jobs to other people.

Now i'm just excited to actually enjoy this xmas.

Plus i know my OH has been busy buying giffts and i can't wait to see what he's bought! :)

Roll on a stress free christmas and may 2010 be better than the year before! :yesyes:

I'm not really stressed about Christmas just kind of sad that my son isn't going to be here Christmas day.
BUT
I have 2 little grandchildren who are here today and my little Peanut (Austin) who is 4 is talking to me about Santa and Christmas lights and all of a sudden I am getting more in the Christmas mood!

He wants to make cookies so I'm off to make a mess that I'm sure I'll be cleaning up for most of the evening!

Maxine, fab post.

I too am looking forward to Christmas. I guess as I still live with my parents I don't have the same pressures as adults, but I hope to have an anxiety-free Christmas.

Best wishes.

Yeaaahhh i'm very chuffed other people are pleased about xmas too.

I'm currently roasting the roast and messing about with other bits of preperation, my lights on the tree are all twinkley and I'm watching The Santa Clause on the telly.

So far i'm having a prefect day ( which i tell you makes a change!!)

Merry Christams everyone :-)

Spent part of last nite trying to explain to a 4 year old why Santa would want to put candy in a 'sock' as he called it :)
LOL
Just called to make sure the video game place is going to be open late because as usual I'm waiting until the last minute to finish shopping ;)
I've got a cup of hot tea and going to watch It's a Wonderful Life to fully get in the mood before wrapping what gifts I have.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MAXINE!!!

Thanks for doing this thread! It's helped to brighten my Christmas mood :)

I am so looking forward to seeing my girls open their pressies! I feel like I have been unwell for so many Christmases and I have been off sick from work and worried about going back. This year I am not working and the pressure feels so much less.

Going to my mums later. Little bit worked up about that, but decided to try my best to chill:)
