The past few days I have seriously been feeling like i am losing my mind. I keep imagining that I am hearing voices, or I am just convinced the voices are going to start talking at any second. This is hard to explain... but I feel almost as if my brain is constipated! It sounds nuts... but i just feel like it is not working properly. I keep having strange thoughts... and they repeat themselves. I seriously feel like I am losing it.

I did just read through a book, atrue story about a girl who developes schizophrenia. Could that be what is causing this? have any of you ever felt similar to this? I seriously feel like I am losing it. I feel almost like I am trapped in my mind...It also doesnt help that it is that time of the month... could that be causing this? ahh i dont know. support please!

hi heidi,

from how well you've described whats happening with your thoughts and feelings, you really dont sound mad.

i think i lived with the thought that i had lost the plot and my brain didnt work properly for a very long time. my advice would be for you to try and talk about all this to somebody, hopefully it will give you a reality check on these thoughts and regain some control. try not to over analyse your thoughts, mixed with anxiety you can be easy convince yourself of all sorts of things, unfortunately its usually negative. you take care .. andrew

hi heidi

i know exactly how you feel because i was like this about a year ago.

i used to have really psychotic thoughts like about hurting myself and others. i was ready to pack it all in for the safety of my family and friends. then i spoke to my psychologist who made me realise i was making these thoughts myself. ie the power of suggestion.

it was like i was trying to imagine whats really messed up and then would think it. this is where "the voices in the head" bit comes in because it might be your putting the suggestion in your mind (not on purpose) and your brain is simply responded like it would from anything else you put to it

please don't feel to worried about it, it's all part of anxiety and if your anything like me the thoughts subsided after i realised this. just keep telling yourself "it's just anxiety, i'm not going mad and these thoughts will go"

take care
love rachel

Highly likely its is the effect of reading this book

It is normal in anxiety to have lower concentration, impaired memory, feel that the cogs are not whirring so well....

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.
