Hi everyone, I am writing from Germany... am English but married to a German man. Have a growing problem with anxiety about illness... don't want to admit to it, but now after a few sessions of being convinced I am going to die, I am recognising a pattern in my behaviour. I don't know what happened to the self-confident person i used to be in this respect! My latest thing is mouth cancer, and i have just given up smoking (for about the 5th time) - I have no real reason to think I have it, just some pain in my face, which wasn't really there until I started reading all about mouth cancer being on the increase last week in the papers. I feel like, why should I be lucky, loads of other people aren't. But am too scared (and feel too stupid) to go to the doctor. Now the whole area which I was initially worried about is throbbing constantly - it feels like it is taunting me. Does anyone out there understand what I am talking about? Be glad to hear from anyone who can help! Bye for now!

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, you will get a lot of great advice here and make some good friends.

I went throught the whole health anxiety thing myself, so I can understand how you feel, it is very hard but you have to think logically about any symptoms that you have.

By being positive, you will find it really helps.

Feel free to pm me anytime.

Take care

Hi Anna and welcome,

How well are you able to distract yourself? I think that is the key, as otherwise you will continue to focus on this imaginary ailment.

Keep reading and posting here, and you will progress.

Take care

Anna

A warm welcome aboard.

I too went through the whole throat cancer thing last week cos I have had a recurrent sore throat so I was convinced it had to be cancer. I know how hard it is to forget about it and searching on the internet is fatal!

Anyway I hope you can get some reassurance on here.
