Hi, after posting a comment in this section called therapy for the person called woblin, I would just like to outline the therapy I had.

I found the therapist through www.emofree.com, I decided to check the therapists out in the U.K. and searched for the one's with a website that I could view. I found one, so took up the courage to give it a call. The man was busy, so he took my number and said he would call me in half hour. Dead on half an hour he called me back.

I told him that I have been suffering from PTSD for almost five years, and it had totally ruined my life. I was a bit surprised that he didn't want to no what causes my PTSD, but I thought ha, just go along with it.

He then started to explain the method involved with EFT. Thought it was a bit strange at first. Has he also mentioned that I may feel a little silly doing this, because this is way beyond most peoples normal view of therapy. However he did say to me, which struck a cord "Why not give it a try for 15 minutes, all that would happen is that you would have had you PTSD for almost 5 years and fifteen minutes"

I then had to make up something called a setup statement. My statement was if I can remember went something like "even though I have ptsd, I forgive myself and anyone else or has contributed towards it, I forgive myself even if I don't get over it" I had to say this 3 times while tapping my hand, the part that you would do a karate chop. Then I had to tap begining of eye saying "this ptsd" side of eye, under eye, under nose, point between lower mouth and chin, collerbone point and finally under my arm.

Sorry before I did that, I had to think of what causes my PTSD and while thinking about it, give it a score out of 10. 10 being high intensity 0 being no intensity. I told him my PTSD was of the scale, but he just said we call it a 10 then.

After doing that weird tapping I was instructed to go back into the PTSD event and test the score again. This time something had changed, don't ask me what, just didn't feel the same. I mentioned my score felt like a 4. We then did some more tapping, that then went to a 2. By now I thinking holly F...

Then he had me point my eyes to the floor and slowly raise them to the ceiling. Asked to go and replay the event. I managed to go through the whole event with no intensity whatsoever a big fat juicy zero.

It was only when we completed that he asked what caused the PTSD event, I then told him in more detail about the car crash, you guessed it, No intensity.

I tested this morning by going out in my car, where I normally am tense, as you can imagine. This time, I had no sign of tension at all. Very relaxed, no dry mouth or sweaty palms.

I am not saying this is the best form of therapy, but its the only one that has managed to remove all the beat up emotions that I had. The car crash memeory is still there, the movie he calls it, just a movie with no emotion.

Does this mean I can get back on with my life, I don't know 5 years is a lot of lost time. Like the therapist said would I be willing to trade the some 10 minutes it took to have 5 years of PTSD. You can guess what I said.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hello James,
I have tried TFT which is very similar to EFT, and I know what you mean. I do feel better for doing it. Whether it be in my head or it really does work in other ways I don't know, but if it makes you feel better, then go for it. Every few weeks or so. I tap the areas myself, and constantly tell myself I am a good person, and can go wherever I want to (that part is getting there I am going further than I have been for some time) feeling more comfortable about it. Not stayed away from
home overnight yet, but I hope that will come.
Best wishes
Jenny xx

Thanks for your kind replies. I have never heard of TFT, but then again I never heard of EFT intil I had the treatment.

Few days on. The therapist called this afternoon, to see how I was doing. How many people have a therapist that calls you to see how your doing.

Well I'm still doing fine.

TFT is Thought Field Therapy. Were as EFT is Emotional Freedom Techinques. Both involve tapping certain points of the body along with saying positive statements to yourself. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be tapping my body this way, and it would help with anxiety I would have thought yea right!!!! If if you go into Google and type in EFT or TFT there is loads of information.

Lucy & James thank you for your kind words. However It is simply my role to support you in investigating the cause behind how you feel. Once we alter the emotion, it just crumbles away. Thats why certain emotions you had were a 10 down to zero, with NO emotional attachment. I will stay in touch, to see how you our both doing.

I was once, what I call the old fashioned therapist. Someone would come to my office, talk for an hour then session finished. Used to have someone for almost 2 years. Thats when I noted, until you deal with the emotion behind the event, logic will NEVER win.

The events we dealt with were over within 5 minutes. Standard therapy cannot compete with this.

Once again thanks for the kind words.

A massive well done. Ive been reading about these type of therapies such as EFT, and the rewind technique and how a lifetime of misery can be over in 10-15 mins.

Im having something similar at the moment.

Well its been almost 9 days since i finished my EFT treatment, still going strong.

Used EFT for something totally different this afternoon. Carl taught me how to stop my craving for ciggies with EFT. I was to phone him when I was at a 10 point scale, in other words, would kill someone for a fag. Under 5 minutes it took to get rid of my craving. last till 6pm, so I just tapped again.

Amazing.

Hi
After reading about EFT and i posted a link on it some time ago now i decided to look up a therapist. I only had an e-mail address and knew she stayed in the central scotland area. She is also a trainer and something made me feel drawn to her. I contacted her by e-mail and it turned out that she lived two streets away from my old address and i had walked past her house many times walking my dogs. I believe when the student is ready the teacher will appear. I had my first session on Monday and the technique seemed so simple that i wondered whether it would work. I felt amazing and left feeling that at last there was something i could do which didnt make feel out of control. Today i went into an area which i have always found difficulty in and used the technique i had been given and i immediatley relaxed and felt confident that nothing was going to happen to me and i survived it and actually enjoyed it.
I would definetly recommend this therapy and i have tried lots which worked whilst i was at the therapist but knowing that i have something that i can do for myself makes me feel more in control.
A big thanks to Carl for putting me in this direction and making me realise that i can take the control.
Hope it goes well for everyone else.

Well its been over 6 weeks since my treatment with Carl. I would just like to say, that I felt a little anxious before xmas, so I just tapped away the issue, because the beauty of this technique, Carl teaches you it....

My ptsd has not raised its head since the day of the treatment, so I now feel 2006 will be a great beginning.

Thats my update.

James.

Happy New Year.....

hi with regards to EFT, I have had a session with a hypnotherapist who specialised in EFT. It was mainly for a plane flight I was going on, which is my idea of hell.

To be honest it was not that successfull for me but maybe I have not given it a chance. I find it hard to fight the anxiety even with the tapping. Any suggestions ? Rockweasel
