thought worry

help was just tidying room when i saw a pack of paracetamls a thought went through my head that people kill themselves with them and i panicked now lts of thoughts about killing myself but know dont feel depressed or want to ,worrid that all of a sudden ill want to take pills coz they r there but dont want to but are they there in case i do? but i know i dont but i dont want to die i dont think oh my god what a terrible thought is this anxiety do others ever go through this terrible turmoil

Dear Julia,

Please put your mind at rest - thoughts of harming / killing yourself or others are a very COMMON symptom of anxiety and many of us here went through this.
Just because you have these anxious thoughts, you are not going to harm yourself because your rational mind is in charge too, and you know this as well! These thoughts are extremely disturbing, I know, but they will go away by time.
