Hi lisa

If you're not taking any meds that might make you constantly drowsy, then it could be that after many years of anxiety your body is just exhausted...like a kind of depletion, as in you're running on reserves. It doesn't affect everyone who is anxious in this way but it does affect some. Have you talked to anybody about it, a doctor or anyone? Tranquilisers can make you feel like this...are you taking any at all?

Going home xx

I was on paroxetine for 7 years and I was tired a lot of the time too, so it could be that; but anxiety can also play a part - it's a tiring thing worrying all the time and constant muscle tension can cause fatigue. I don't think the time of year helps either...

Fatigue and tiredness is a side effect of paroxetine so maybe you should go back to your GP with the patient leaflet inside the box that lists all the side effects and see what he says.

This constant tiredness is horrible and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi

I am very tired and returning to work has been a really difficult move as like yourself I can go through total anxiety where I cannot settle to complete exhaustion meaning like you said sleeping and waking up exhausted and needing to go back to sleep again..

I do believe it is the medication as without medication I just could not calm down enough for any sleep. It makes the days hard as quiet often I come over so drowsy and my eyes are struggling and as you mentioned the yawning.. when I get in from work I HAVE to sleep even if only for an hour just to wake up and allow myself to do a little more..but I still have trouble with sleep and can sit up til the very early hours so either way, it gets you somehow!

Sleep is a healer so guess that when we go through our stresses it is our bodies way of trying to recover and the meds are just helping us take what we need ... all the best to you have you tried relaxation tapes ... to allow for a more peaceful sleep I have very vivid dreams and wake several times to get away from these so it maybe that we think we are having huge amounts of sleep but it isn't allowing us the rest we need from it x

Yes, at my worst I felt constantly tired. Even when getting 8 hours+ of sleep, I would just want to get back in bed and stay there all day long. I think my depression from all my HA issues and symptoms made me feel this way. I am doing much better, but today I have been having one of those "body feels like lead" type of days! Oh, and I also had the constant yawning thing too! You are not alone...:hugs:

Hi Folks..

From what I can gather, tirdness can be caused by anxiety. It is apparently due to your nerves being over sensitive. I suffer from anxiety due to a work related issue where I basically burned myself out. The problem is, the more you try to sort the problem out in your mind, you are adding to the anxiety which is affecting your nerves which basically tires your body out. I'm listening to Dr Claire Weekes audio files and she is basically saying, in order for your body to repair itself, you need to condition your mind to accept these thought. The more you accept them, the less they grab a hold of you giving your body the required time to repair itself.

It is easier said than done. Because of my issue, I am constantly feeling the need to be on the go all the time which frazzles my nerves so as you can see, I end up going round and round in circles thinking about it. Holiday times are the worst but I'm working on it. New Years eve is going to be interesting trying to sit and socialise with friends in the pub as that is one major issue that has arisen out of my issue with anxiety. I can't seem to sit and relax becasue I had (have) a fear that my mobile or pager would go off when my wife was out with me. This left me in a predicament. How to get my wife home safely and at the same time, attend to the rescue incident. Over time, I think I conditioned myself to associating pager with pub (or outing with wife) which led to anxiety even though I didn't know it at the time. This became tiring so as you can see, anxiety and tirdness do work hand ini hand - to me anyway. Even though I am out of the service, the issue is still there and hard to break

Hi. It's always useful to remember that when you feel threatened, your body goes through various physical changes like upping your heart rate, pumping you full of adrenaline, oxygen, sugar etc. Even changing your digestion and things so you're at your very best to fight off the threat. These things are your natural responses to help you fight or run away.

Of course this system is suited to help you escape from a hungry tiger, not to operate on a daily basis for hours on end. I think that's where the tiredness originates. To experience it for any extended period of time can be very tiring, even if you're sat down not really doing anything. So I would say it's totally normal to be tired.

Sometimes I can feel incredibly tired when out and about, then feel suddenly fresh and alert as soon as I return home. So sometimes it's simply a state of mind, rather than an actual lack of energy.

Hi Lisa:)
Anxiety does have a very tiring and draining effect. Are you eating healthily? taking vitamins? Have you been checked for anemia?
I have anemia and that can make me feel tired a lot of the time, and makes my limbs ache, especially when I don't take my iron supplement.
Hope you soon feel less tired.
