Hi, new to this board, had to find somewhere with people going through what I am before I completely lose the plot!
I am having regular panic attacks, feel anxious all the time, I am drinking myself drunk basically every night to get rid of my symptoms, I have a constant choking sensation in my thoat, I feel like there is a lump there constantly...globus what ever its called. I try breathing exercises which kinda work, but not to the point I feel normal again, my chest feels tight, Im so stressed about it, its awful, I feel in hell. I had this when I was younger after my first child, and managed to control them, but in the past 3 weeks its come back with a vengence. I have been o the docs, she has arranged for me to see someone, but will not give me anything in the meantime to ease me, so I just have to deal with it best I can. Its getting to the point though where I fear going on a bus as I start getting panicky, same with trains, which is a new thing for me, last time around I just went to bed everynight thinking someone was gonna break in and kill me....lol, any advice would be greatly appreciated, but just a bit of support is all I need, before I get drunk again =)

Laura

The drinking will make the anxiety and symptoms worse tomorrow.

Maybe consider going and getting yourself some valarian and rescue remedy to try to tide you over..

This is an awful stage to be going through without any help ...

I'm sure you know that the chest tightness is a normal part of anxiety along with the throat thing.

Instead of drinking try another form of distraction to get you through and lessen one of the attacks.

Any book by Claire weekes will help too.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Thanks
I am reading through the posts, but its so hard coping with the throat thing, and having a couple of glasses of red wine really helps...lol, but I know its not the right way to go about things, hence why I have seeked help on here and with my doctor, so hopefully I will be on the way to some kind of peace soon.

I also forgot to mention Im a hyperchondriac too, I know thats not how you spell it but never mind. I have been to the doctors in the last 3 weeks alone thinking I have skin cancer, a low blood count, some kind of bone disease, arthritis, brain tumour...its funny writing it down cos its rediculous, but in reality its bloody terrifying to live thinking you are basically dying from one thin or another! At the end of the day, the stress of all this is probably gonna be the thing that kills me off!

Hi hun, l am sorry your suffering like this. One suggestion l have since you doctor won't give you anything is to go too a natural food store and get a bottle of rescue remedy. lt is all natural and can't do you any harm. l use it for panic attacks. lt is worth a try.
best wishes, Cindy :)

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I tried cbt a few years ago after going through a similar stage after the birth of my first child and it worked really well at the time, will have to get he docs to get me on to it again. Is there anywhere on line you can do it by the way?
