Yes, it's like a very quick jolt/shock in the head. Only lasts a few seconds and isn't generally painful.

I haven't had one, but from what I've read on this forum they feel very scary, but are not serious. If you do a quick serach under "head zaps" you will see how common they are due to anxiety or certain medications. :)

also there is a sticky topic about it. you can check it out. Indeed they are frightening but once you get used to it you don't anymore. It only annoys me for example
