Hello She,

Don't be sorry about posting; we are here to reassure and help support each other.

Your two x rays, which were taken recently have shown your lungs to be perfectly clear; x-rays would detect abnormalities long before they present with symptoms, so the chances of anything sinister developing between then and now are extremely remote, not even worth a second thought. You may have picked up a slight cold, or some other bug which is making you a bit mucusy. Also your chest can tighten when you are feeling stressed, which probably gives you the feeling of chestiness.

Your tickly cough could be put down to anxiety. The throat area can feel tight and constricted when we feel anxious, sometimes it makes people want to swallow repeatedly, which ends up with the throat feeling dry. Years back, when I was under a lot of stress I developed an annoying tickly cough, which disappeared very quickly once the stress had eased. I do know how worrying it is, and how difficult it is to break the cycle, especially when you have a 'worry symptom'. Hang on to the fact that your chest x-rays were perfectly clear, and that yesterday your doctor examined you are said they were clear.

I hope you will be feeling less anxious soon, and will be able to relax a little, because I am sure once you can let the worry go your niggly cough will ease.

my wife's father and partner have copd and what your describing doesn't sound like it. You didn't say if smoke or not but when i did smoke my chest was allways playing up.
