Hi, I have been taking Fluoxetine for about 5 years however I am not depressed but suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. I think I should change my medication to something else that has an anti anxiety aid only problem is, everytime I try and come off the Fluoxetine I develop panic attacks. My GP is very unhelpful. I would really like to talk to a specialist on anti-depressants and what I should be taking and how best to make the switch over. I am willing to go private if I have to - does anyone know of any such service?

Not as such - but if see a psychiatrist, or your GP could refer you to one, they should have better knowledge of your options.

Hello,I think you should be seeing a psychologist or another doctor.I would certainly be changing meds if you are feeling anxious,I am in Aus so i cannot help you with DR's as such but I do know it's trial and error with meds...........Take care ...........Ronny:)

Thank you both for your replies. I saw my GP today and she has referred me To a private clinic that deals with anxiety. It would be so reassuring to see someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to anti-depressants as my GP doesn't have a clue and still insists that you don't get side affects from them! This site is fantastic and SO supportive.x
