Insomnia and Anit D's

Hi
Has anyone else had insomnia when taking anti depressants? I took cipralex and citalopram and could not fall asleep naturally at all. Was terrible. Normally have no trouble falling asleep at all even when anxious.

If this is a side effect should it ease after a few weeks and i'll fall asleep naturally?

I'm really worried about it as need to start taking some anit d's but worried about not sleeping.

I take sertraline and have had major sleep problems. It did get better after several weeks but it's returned again because I've increased my dose.

I think it's a side effect that does pass and the best way to try to avoid it is to start on a low dose and increase very slowly.

Yes, when I first started about day 3 I didn't sleep for 48hrs, and along with all the other side effects I felt like I was going crazy. It did pass though.
If you are having constant dramas you should go to your doc for some sleeping meds to help. That's what I did and only used them 2 or 3 times ...
