Has anyone else experienced weight gain on Zoloft or other SSRI's? If so, have you had success with a natural alternative? I'm sick of the weight gain and need advice!

Hi Martina

I think most people gain weight when they are on SSRI's.

I was okay when I was on Seroxat I didn't gain weight. However now Im on Cipramil I have definitely gained weight. However, I have to admit that since I have been on this med I have had an incredible craving for sweet things. I have gone from someone who thought chocolate was okay to someone who has to have it on a daily basis. Thus I have gained weight.

If you can find an alternative which works as well as an SSRI then I'd be interested. I think the only alternative is St Johns Wort and I dont really know how effective it is and I dont think you can take it long term either.

Have you been eating more - maybe the med is relaxing you so much that you are eating more than you used to.

When you are feeling low the last thing you want is to put on weight because that can only serve to make you feel lower. You can't win.

Anyway lots of love to you
Yvonne

Before I started taking Aropax I could eat whatever I wanted and still was as skinny as a pole. Since taking aropax i have found that my metabolism has slowed down dramatically and I have had some weight gain. I was thinking of swapping to Zoloft, but i think all SSRI's do the same thing. I am trying "B complex" and "Calcium and Magnesium" while i start to wean myself off Aropax, but I think I'd rathe a few kilo's to the alternative!
