Hi there

I ve been on and off meds (mostly on) for the last maybe 12 years and im worried that they can cause long term brain damage of neurological damage?

Does anyone have any advice

i dont really have any advice, but i have taken meds for over 20 years continously , sometimes i think of long term effects , but i try and weigh that up agaisnt what my life would be like without my meds..

I have the same problem as you both. I have until recently been on dothiepin for sixteen years. I am now off it. I have also taken lithium for thirteen years. I am fully aware of the side effects and think my quality of life would have been poor without the drugs. I doubt that I would have been able to get married have a child and go back to work. I don't know what the answers are. I have also taken fertility drugs and long term they do not know how they affect the body.

thanks for your answers - i am so forgetful these days and i never used to be and im worried its the tablets damaging my brain

I've been taking meds on and off since I was about 16 and I'm now 54. I've been taking benzos daily since around 1980 and anti depressants since 1994. I do worry sometimes about the long term use of them, but can't really handle trying to come off them. My mum, who is 86, has been taking Nitrazepam since she was 38 and she is still going strong so they haven't harmed her :winks:
