I was given some great flash cards by my "Starworker", Karen.

I thought you may find them useful in a panic situation [8D]
Just copy the wise words and order them to suit yourself in the order you feel is important. Keep them handy incase you need support.

Physical Symptoms (You may have some of these) -

I have HEART PALPITATIONS because
My body is preparing for a flight or fright response.

I have BREATHING PROBLEMS because
Stress is causing muscles to tighten, which makes breathing difficult.

I am SHAKING AND TREMBLING because
The Adrenalin in my body isn't being used, and my body is trying to get rid of a build up of energy.

I am SWEATING OR HAVE HOT BLOOD because
The build up of energy in my body is turning to heat.

I am FEELING FAINT OR DIZZY because
I need more oxygen and balance can be affected by tension on the inner ear.

Mental prompt messages - order them as you see fit, you may not want to use them all.

STOP!

I am aware this is only a panic attack it can not hurt me

Focus concentration elsewhere

I am not in danger, I am safe

These feelings will pass

Stomach breathing exercises

I can stop this panic

I am calm

I am in control

Visualise a safe place

Count backwards from 30

I can allow this to pass, I will be fine in a few minutes

You get the idea, you can even add your own reminder messages of support. :)

Love, light and Best wishes

Hi Liz

Thanks for those, it looks all so sensible when you see it written down doesnt it?

Its the sort of thing I run through in my head when I feel bad but it looks so much more believable when its written down!!

Ooh Liz

I bet you won all the class prizes at school didn't you.

What a fantastic idea. I'm going to write them down in my mad book. I know them, can lecture other people on them, but when I'm in the throws, everything I know and understand seems to go out of the window.

Thanks for that invaluable tool

Love

Charlie
