I have been prescribed 10mg of Citalopram to try as a result of a visit to an ME specialist to help with the ME symptoms and the anxiety.

I have a real terror of medication and have been recommended various anti-depressants for years but never taken them.

However, my current situation and the stress I know I am going to have to go through over the next few months makes me feel like I really ought to try them, as so many people do seem to feel better with them

I have looked at a lot of the links Meg has provided but would like some individual feedback as I don't want to read too many 'negatives'!

Hmm I suppose what I'm asking for is success stories!!

Thanks,

Hello Fee,

I have only been on Citalopram for just over 3 weeks now so I can't really give you a "long term" success story, but what I will say is that I have improved while taking the drug.

I don't mean to alarm you by my next statement, but it is true that you will fell worse before you'll get better. My first week on the drug was not pleasant. As I wasn't eating properly and was hardly sleeping, the Citalopram really effected me, bringing on Nausea, Insomnia and very high anxiety levels. This did subside after afew days and I can honestly say that I feel much better now.

As I haven't been taking these that long I can't say if I feel better because of the drugs, or because of the self determination to make myself feel better.

One thing is certain though, the negatives aren't that bad, unpleasant at their worst, with the end results promising.

I take that medication and in comparison to how i was a couple of years ago before i took it it has definately helped me. Hope it helps you also. Like you i had a great fear of it but decided i had to give it a go as i couldnt carry on how i was.

Thinking of you

Love Sal xx
