Hi Dan,

I really understand this! About a year ago at work we had this whole work/life balance thing and we all got a free voucher for this massage place in town (not as dodgy as it sounds lol).

Everyone was dead excited about it and said we should all go together and I came up with excuse after excuse not to go. In the end I went with just my classroom assistant who I get on with really well. It was ok just the two of us. I absolutely hated the massage and facial (the being trapped in a chair) and I'm not very good at the whole relaxing thing either. However, overall I did enjoy the day, we had a good laugh about it. I was pleased I had gone anyway.

I would say go if you feel able, but I would definately go in my own car. I am sure they will understand this. BUT if you decide you can't go then please don't feel bad about it. *I no i have to go as its a gift and expensive* I am sure your Mum wouldn't want you to get stressed about it, that's not the idea! Have you told her how you feel?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

So you could spend most of the day lounging about in the jaccuzzi and thallasotherapy etc which are not restricing and just go for the massage which hopefully will do its magic. You at any time can ask the therapist to stop and your Mum need not be any the wiser that you weren't there the whole time.

If you are having Pa's in relaxation classes, this is liable to be thoughts related. Try to focus on learning breathing techniques that can help you.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Also i havn't been to the hairdressers for years ( my hairdresser friend does it at home!) Having said that I think you should try to go even if its for just a short time. definatly take your own car Just in case! Try to relax- just pretend your'e a celebrity being pampered! Hi Dan

Which health spa are you going to?? My partner bought me a weekend voucher for Xmas so I am off there soon for a pamper. I go to Ragdale Hall.

Anyway - I am rambling.

Each year I spend a week at Ragdale Hall and I get 3 free treatments in the price so it would be a shame not to take them.

The rooms are quite small and even now I still get a bit of a wobble when I first walk in cos they are also dark (to relax you) and quite warm. I always think that there is no way I could lay still for 50 minutes whilst having a massage and each time I do it and love it and come out feeling wonderful.

Sit quitetly before a treatment and do some slow breathing.

Why not mention in to whoever does the treatment and just say you are not very good at sitting still etc so not to be offended if you decide not to stay.

They will completely understand and won't mind if you need to leave.

You don't need to have treatments - like Meg said you can laze around the pool, do an exercise class etc.

You will really love it once you are there - I promise.

Reiki is very relaxing - check out How Reiki can help with Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Phobias and OCD. (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/NMPcms.php?nmppage=reiki)

Just be aware, however, that sometimes Reiki can make you feel quite drained afterwards so if you do book a session then don't plan an exercise class straight after it!

Go along and have a fab time.
