I have had a bad year health-wise, and have become obsessed with the idea that there must be some underlying, serious condition such as cancer which is making me get sick so often. I have had quite a lot of tests but nothing has come to light.

It all started early last year when I got an injury to my ribs on the left side. After suffering with the pain for a few days I ended up in A&E after finding blood in my urine and panicking. They said my rib was probably not broken, just bruised, but that I did have a nasty urinary tract infection, gave me some antibiotics.

I then had UTIs on and off (more on than off) for the next 2-3 months. I had 5 courses of antibiotics (Cefalexin, one I can't remember, Nitrofurantoin - which I had to stop after getting a nasty allergic reaction, then back to Cefalexin for 2 courses).

I was then OK for about a month/6 weeks or so, then in June got tonsillitis. This then led into about 3 months of constant exhaustion, and pain in my throat and neck. I had tests for glandular fever, blood tests looking for autoimmune disorders. All were clear. During this time I had two courses of antibiotics - can't remember types.

Eventually I was referred to an ENT specialist and had an xray to check for stones in my salivary ducts which was clear. She diagnosed chronic tonsillitis and gave me MORE antibiotics, a 6 week, low dose course. This appeared to work, but about 4 weeks after stopping them I got tonsillitis again. Then I got better but was still very tired. Then I got a sinus infection, December last year, seemed to get better but again I still felt more tired than usual.

About 5 weeks ago I got another sinus infection, bad headache around left eye with a tingling, numb sensation around the same area. Pain in left eye, twitching feeling in eyelid (although no actual movement with this sensation). Doctor prescribed Amoxycillin. I developed tinnitus in my right ear. Had follow-up appointment with ENT specialist at this time when I had a pressure test showing I had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction in my right ear, she prescribed Betamethasone drops in nose for 2 months and referred me for Tonsillectomy as my tonsils still looked very unhealthy. I am waiting for this operation.

2 days after this appointment I had a very severe sudden onset headache in the back of my head on the left side. I was admitted to hospital and had a CT scan which was clear. I was discharged with dihydrocodeine for the pain but have been referred to see a neurologist as an out-patient - I am waiting to hear about this appointment.I have since had from my GP penicillin for the sinus infection which has not cleared, which he changes halfway through the course to amoxycillin again, now just finished the course. My headache is now back to being confied to around the left eye. The tingling and numbness in my face is as bad as ever, my left eye feels irritated and I now have pain in the left side of my groin and above my pubic bone. It almost feels like another UTI except it's on one side and there is no discomfort on urination.

I am very frightened that there might be a serious cause underlying all these relatively minor health problems. Can you suggest any course of action? Anything I should be asking my GP? I have been quite anxious recently due to stress at work, partner's financial problems, and through the illness of 2 close friends. Could this all be due to stress? I would so appreciate any advice. Thank you.
