hi.....just found this site on the web, and having read through some of the info (and it helping calm me down from my latest panic attack).. wanted to get a post on here and get some thoughts/experiences of people who are/have been having panic attacks to see if i can get any possible solutions....(apologies in advance for the long post)

started having panic attacks at the end of October (while starting a new job) and my second one caused me to call 999 and spend an hour in A&E getting checked out as i was convinced i was having a heart attack (which i wasnt)....went to see the doctor who ran blood tests which all came back fine and he then presscribed me sertraline and propanolol ( a beta blocker) - didnt want to take them so i got some st johns wort and aconite ( a homeopathic remedy)..this kind of worked but i was still getting frequent attacks although not "full blown" ones....late nov.early dec i went back to the doctor as they started to keep me awake all night so i was missing work. he gave me diazepam to take when they got bad and this seemed to work for a while aside from attacks at work (obviously)...picked up a cold in mid december that amplified my attacks and it got to the point just after xmas that i was having at least 1 a day..have been to counselling but had to stop that now due to being released from my contract due to ill health which identified i have a fear of being ill/dying...

im now on citalopram (10mg) and diazepam but still get attacks - im aware of breathing techniques which work sometimes - also have an ear infection and sinusitis as a result of the cold so am going back to see doctor but just cant see a light at the end of the tunnel at the moment.....anybody been thru this kind of situation, and do they have any advice for me?

thanks, Darren
