So i seem to be getting these a lot lately...not just the odd one or two, but big clumps of them also, drifting across my vision. I made an image on photoshop....

Anybody else experience big clumps of these things?

hi hon

i do get these annoying floaty things... sometimes i get a clump of them that seem to blck my veiw... when this happens it is normally followed by a head ache... but get little floaters a lot.. i think it seems to occur when i am tired. the more tired the more floaters. i also get a twitch in my left eyelid... again the more tired the more i twitch... floaters are in left eye also. weird.... if your rally concerned run it by your dr. or contact nhs direct. i am sure it is all anxiety related. try not to worry. i bet loads of us ge it.

take care

I second what the above poster said. they do seem to come in spates, or maybe you just notice them more. My optometrist said they are harmless, more noticible when you're introspective i.e. staring at the sky on a clear day and you see them. Most people have them, especially those who are short/near sighted.

Hi,
I started getting these (or at least I started noticing them) about 3 months ago after the birth of my son. I got very worried so went to the doc, who told me to get my eyes tested. Saw the optician and he said he could see the floaters but that they'rew harmless. To be on the safe side, he's referred me to the opthalmology unit at the hosp and I will see the opthalmologist on 27th March. Will let you know how I get on.

My floaters are very annoying too and sometimes distract me even when I'm doing things like driving. I have a dark round one right in the centre of my vision, and a 'u' shaped one that falls slowly across my vision - that one's kind of silvery and then a few other strands. Horrible!!

I happen to have gone to my optometrist today about my floaters and sore eyes. He checked my floaters extensively and told me the same thing everyone else has confirmed--they are harmless and there's nothing you can do about them. They can move around and break up and clump together again over time, that's why for some periods you notice clumps more than others. They will not necessarily get worse with age. I also read (very positively) on a website that you should actually train your mind to live with and ignore your floaters. Apparently this works. Also, you are supposed to drink a ton of water and eat a ton of vegetables to keep your eyes at their healthiest. That helped me a lot - reading that. Good luck, and at least you can look forward to the possibility that your larger floaters will break up and bother you less in the future. :)

Hey, I have two big ones that I notice every once in a while, especially if I'm looking at the sky on a clear day (like someone mentioned above). I also have random, smaller ones. I think most people have them and it really doesn't worry me; I'm very near sighted so I have my eyes checked regularly and there's never been any cause for concern.
