what is the adult blood pressure? [Archive]

Hi can anyone tell me what is classed as normal blood pressure for an adult aged 24?

I have had my blood pressure taken and it is 140/74 is that high or low?

About 120/80 is ideal apparently.

this is my first post on the forum, greets to all!

on the topic, your pressure is high but you need to check it out once a week and in different situations. when i visit my GP i get it checked twice and it starts in 140/80 than low to 130/80 or 120/80, which means i have a kind of hypertension that tends to get low or high and is never the same.

it's not a harmful condition once you start reducing salt on diet and exercising regularly so take care!

maybe you were anxious when you had it done this can cause it to shoot up any stressful situaions can have it done again in couple of weeks the ideal bp is 124/60 ,, but up to 90 is ok ,,yours bit high but not too high dont worry,, a study today said people who have high bp are less likely to have heart attacks and strokes,,

Hi Gypsy - where did you get that info from? I always thought it was 120/80 - have they changed it again :wacko:

124/60? no sorry, 60 is borderline to low.

But watch this space, BP is all just about to change if you seen the news today.

I always thought normal bp was 120/80.
I have mostly always had low blood pressure - usually 100/60 and get obsessed with my readings, thinking I am going to die, but years on and I am still here!

Don't you worry, your BP is fine :), that BP means you will live forever.

There was a new study published today about BP on the BBC news, the info is on the BBC website

I want to live forever, but not with anxiety!!! I couldn't be doing with being 90 years old with anxiety!!!:scared15:
You would think with low bp that I would be calm but I am exactly the opposite!
