With an attitude of gratitue, life can be simple, easy and joyful.

GROW
RELEASE
ACCEPT
THANK
INSPIRE
TREASURE
UNDERSTAND
DELIGHT
EXPECT

I have an attitude of gratitude therefore I expect my day to unfold with simplicity, Ease and Joy.

Here's how a Gratitude Diary works:

Every day, write down 5 different things to be grateful for. It can be anything - feeling the sun on your face, happy you talked to a friend, being able to take a walk, enjoying a hot bath. Smile as you write them down this will help you feel grateful.

Here's what will happen:

* The first day you'll be thinking hard about what to be gratful for.
You will find them though.

* The second day, you'll start to look for things to be grateful for.

* As the days go by you'll experience a shift in your attitude.
You'll start to expect things to happen to be grateful for.

* As more days pass, there will be another shift.
You'll start to recognise when things happen to be grateful for.

* Another shift will take place when you start to feel grateful
at the time the event takes place.

This is when the miracle of gratitude will really start to happen to you.

Be Thankful for...
by Author Unknown.

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know somthing
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Because it means you've made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfilment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a postitive,
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.

Hope this helps everyone who joins this thread.

Aww what a nice post!! I have read about this in Paul Mkenna's book and I must say I find it hard to do. I think we all dwell on the negatives more then the positives, even people without anxiety etc can do it!! The positive things are there, but somehow seemed to whitewashed over by all the worries and things we have. I have been trying to find things to be positive about the last couple of weeks, even the sun shining when I wake up or having a better nights sleep is enough to make me smile a little :) There is always something positive xxx

Sorry Martin, but I did, in my defence, have to resort to lying on the couch to allow my sore heel (due to nail going through shoe investigating afore said rats exit hole) to recover for at least two hours necessitating the relaxation of eye lids.

Should I discuss my gardening with my GP or counsellor?

That's alright then!
For a minute was concerned that my missus would see it and think such behaviour was actually normal.

But I would try the counsellor first as 2 hours is nowhere near long enough LOL

todays 5

a) Church was good this morning and my new music is being acepted well
b) I have a lawn
c) Zinc, manganese and B6 supplementation seems to be really helping me
d) My wife is loads better
e) I once met Frankie Howard at work in Nottingham before he died

yes e) is a good thing! A sad and misunderstood man for sure but full of anxiety like us. And he managed to cope with huge stardom alongside terrible anxiety - at great cost to himself as you will understand. He often struggled to get to the canteen to get a sandwich. Thankfully everyone I knew was very understanding.

Jannie - very sorry - how rude for me to comment like that on some else gratitudes!
I though I was being vaguely humerous, esp as I have to go to work today!!

And I guess most of the girls would be glad to go "shopping yippee".
But speaking as a fella - only if it was into Dixon's or Curry's to look at dvd gizmos, or then onto Maplins to look at batteries, cables and gadgets.
(I got the feeling you didn't mean that sort of shopping though! :D)

"There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart"
Celia Thaxter (American Poet, 1836-1894)

I picked up on all of the heartfelt comments about being grateful, and thought you might appreciate this quote.

I am a new author of a book titled: When I Am Grateful
It's a gift book that outlines the 'stuff' that can happen to us everyday and then reminds the reader how we can be grateful, even in the most challenging times.

You can view a book video on my site which gives you more insights.
