Swelling behind jaw under ear...

OK so I've had this very hard swelling behind my jaw and below my left ear which I can feel when i press inwards. Its hard to gauge but It feels maybe the size of a marble. It isn't movable. I have nothing like this on the other side. There is no pain unless I push it really hard (in which case it might me mildly uncomfortable). I think it changes in size now and again but I cant be sure. It has been there for a few years now (as long as I can remember) but only recently with my sudden onset of anxiety has it began to worry me. Any idea what it could be before I go running to the doctor?

Can you ever remember having any spots or boils in that area? I have the same thing on my cheek, had it for years but it doesn't effect me.
Remember we can have fatty tissue on one side without it having to be on the other plus that fact that you have had it for so long would make me doubt very much that it is anything to worry about. If you are worried though, go see your gp for some reasurance!.
