does anyone ever feel like their throat is swelling. that there is a muscle connected to your heart from your throat and it will burst any minute. the pain and sense of restrictio in movement is horrific. pleasr help

hi jackie i no the feeling you mean its caused by muscle tension and its very frightening.i get it a lot its just 1 of those horrid symtoms of anxiety.ive sent you a private message.take care marcia

hi jackie,

sorry to hear that you are going through this. but
i have this from time to time and it's do to anxiety.
i am 50 years old and have had this from time to time
for the last 35 years. it does get alot better once you
realize that thats what it is from. believe me it feels like
you are going to die but you won't or i would have been
dead a long time ago ....like 35 years ago

I get something like this when I'm anxious. It feels more like someone is pressing their thumb against my Adam's Apple, makes me feel like I'm going to choke or retch. Not nice!

This is a very common symptom of anxiety and is called globus hystericus.
I visited my GP as I was so worried about mine and once she had reassured me and told me what it was within a few hours it had disappeared.
