I have a few questions that I know some of you may be able to help me with. Here is a little background....

About 3 years ago I went through hell....financial problems, marital problems,a death, spiritual problems...you name it it all happened at once! But all during this time not one panic attack not one emergency room visit. Then things got better I started actually being happy and BOOM out of nowhere I started having these episodes that took me to the ER. For no apparent reason I would start getting short of breath and chest pains....ect. No triggers. I have been to the ER about 10 times all to never find a heart problem.

I have benefited more from info *mainly on this site* more than anything. SO I would appreciate any help you may have for me.

Here are my questions......
1. Is it typical to have panic disorder start up when there are seemingly no triggers? Like why didnt I have panic during my stressful time....why now when things are better?
2. Is it common for this problem to escalate into hypochondria? I think Im going to die just about every day.
3. Do most people recover?
4. Is having a hard time sleeping common?
5. Is decreased sex drive common? Why?
6. I have chest flutters kinda like a bubble feeling going through my heart is this common or typical?

Thank you all so much

1. Is it typical to have panic disorder start up when there are seemingly no triggers? Like why didnt I have panic during my stressful time....why now when things are better?

We tend to ' hold it together ' during the tough times a sort of coping mechanism kicks in and then when its over and we let go and have time to reflect - it all comes whooshing out. Very normal

2. Is it common for this problem to escalate into hypochondria? I think Im going to die just about every day.

If you allow the fear of the fear cycle to gain hold of you it can do.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi,

Most of us have encountered some of the feelings you describe but it will pass.

Sometimes we carry on with life at such a pace that we believe that we are indomitable but it can back fire and stop us in our tracks. I am trying to learn my limits so as to avoid the feelings of too much anxiety that it slowly takes over.

Hope you find what you are looking for we're all in it together.

1. Is it typical to have panic disorder start up when there are seemingly no triggers? It's amazing how we cope when we actually need to - we need the andrenaline to get us through but when we relax we are more suceptable to notice the sensations. When I had my daughter she was born 12 weeks early and it was very stressful but I was fine - PA's didn't hit until she had been home for a few months!

2. Is it common for this problem to escalate into hypochondria? I think Im going to die just about every day. I have thought that I would die every day....that's the fear.
3. Do most people recover? There are lots of shinging examples on here of how much better people get.

4. Is having a hard time sleeping common? Yes because your mind is busy at night going over your worries even if you don't know it. Relaxation techniques are good for this.
5. Is decreased sex drive common? Why? Yep - who feels like sex when they think they are going to die, lol!! Or when their life is taken up by anxiety, it doesn't leave much energy for anything else!
6. I have chest flutters kinda like a bubble feeling going through my heart is this common or typical? So common - I would guess that nearly all of us on here have had that at one point or another - it is one of the commonest symptoms - chekc out the symptoms forum!

I hope you feel better soon.

All these things are normal and they WILL pass! Bet you're fed up of hearing that- but honestly, they will pass.

The one thing I noticed in particular was that when I first started having PA's, thoughts of them consumed pretty much every waking hour. I had NO sex drive for about a month after the first PA, as I was really struggling with trying NOT to have one.

And sleeping- god, that was wierd. I had no problems actually falling asleep, but I would (and occasionally still do) wake up with a start, with my heart racing and having head rushes. Very very strange feeling!!!

I hope things get better soon, thinking of you xxxxx :D xxxxxxx
