I have posted about joint pains over the past few months - saw rheumatologist last Monday who said pains were a mystery and not arthritis. For the past month i have been getting a pain in my knee, i did not mention this to Dr as hes was very abrupt and unhelpful. When i kneel i get a really sharp pain and it feels that something in my knee is moving.
Im now really worried that i have got arthritis and that my knee has been damaged by the inflamation.
I also feel so tired all the time and was wondering if i have some sort of chronic fatique syndrome , which maybe causing my joint pains. but my knee pain feels different.
Sorry to rant , but it helps to post on this site.
Can anyone advise, THANKS

Achy joints can happen periodically. Anxiety can make you tired. My knees creak and moan and periodically hurt, but I have had this since being a teenager and it has never gotten really bad. Try not to kneel and rest the knees. Maybe try tylenol or something like that and then get a second opinion. It does not seem to be anything to worry about though.

Don't be despondant about what the rheumatologist said. Sometimes we take aches and pains and there's no exlanation for them, but they are definitely happening. I suffer from knee pain occasionally and it is annoying. I think when we are tense and anxious then the pain seems much worse. You sound a bit worn out at the moment and the pain will be getting you down. Just look after yourself and take some time out if you can. :hugs:

I agree with Myra. I have chronic pain and searching for an answer after all the tests have come up negative is a useless exercise that will only serve to amplify your pain and misery. The only thing left for you to do is to find some pain relief, keep anxiety under control and keep as active as you can.

I do empathise with you as this is something I suffer with every day of my life but you can't let it win by torturing yourself and constantly agonising over it. You must move on and again I wish you all the best, PB.

Thank you for your replies what have you found that helps your pain , i feel so worn down by it, somedays are good are others are terrible. i feel that i have no control over my life and the pain.

Keeping active is SO important. I do stretching exercises (pilates) and try to swim at least once a week. The best time to do the stretching is after a warm bath or steam/sauna. It's important for your muscles to be relaxed, not tense and stiff.

Obviously keeping your anxiety under control is vital, and meds can help here along with any talking therapies (if you've not had them).

For the pain, you should have been referred to the pain clinic where they can try different types of meds to ease your pain. You shouldn't be suffering in too much pain because as you said it wears you down and fuels your anxiety.

I hope that helps ;)

Have appointment with gp on Monday to discuss joint pains and the rheumatologist saying that i didn't have arthritis.
The pains have got better but they haven't gone completley.
Now not sure about asking for a second opinion.
My knees are hurting today as ive done quite alot of walking.
Still taking arthritis meds (diclofenic), would like to stop but scared the pains will come back.
Also feel very tired alot of the time.
I just feel that i will never get any answers.

Hi

Have you looked into supplements!?

It could be that you're deficient in something, don't expect a doctor to suggest this 'cause they're generally too caught up in the whole medication thing.

Omega 3 fish oils are good for joints, for example. Lack of magnesium can cause cramping, possibly worth looking in to!

Not to give you something else to worry about, But Lyme Disease can cause the symptoms are you experiencing as well. I would see a rheumatologist or infectious disease specialist familiar with diagnosing Lyme as the blood tests are very unreliable. However, if you do get blood tests done for it (which I recommend), ask for the ELISA, western blot, and PCR for Lyme. You might improve on antibiotics if this is the case. So don't worry about it, but look into it. If this IS the case, you can only improve.

Went to gp today, she said that i should report the rheumatologist i saw a few weeks ago as he was so rude and didn't even have my referral letter!
The pains in my joints have got alot better but i have a problem with my knee , which she thinks is cartilage but to leave unless it gets really bad, but of cause im really worrying and feel that im slowly falling apart. Does anyone have a similar problems with their knee.
She also wants me to try to stop the diclofenic but im worried my joints will flare up again if i stop.
Can someone please advise , THANKS

Hello, I have have joint and muscle pain especially in my right leg for the past year now. During this time I have arthritis and other tests. The doctor has just put it down to my anxiety and has diagnosed M.E (post aftigue syndrome) It got so bad at one point that I could not climb stairs! But it does come and go, i have to pace my daily activities now. Anxiety can cause so many physical symptoms!!
