I'm not sure what you are asking. It seems like you are making a statement.

If you aren't having urinary retention, then no, if you are, then yes.

Everyone reacts to drugs differently.

It would be a good thing to ask your Dr ..Did you have this prob before you took the Amitriptyline ? How long have you been taking it and when did the problem start ? Sue

Yes, amitriptyline can cause urinary retention as it's an anticholinergic drug and your problem is most likely because of this.

I would tell your doctor about it, but it's highly unlikey to be anything like the Big C.

Its highly unlikely its the big c ...I have read your other posts ..There is a test for prostate cancer .If your Dr thought it was that, he would give you one .You would be getting more symptoms than you are .But if you ask he may give you one to put your mind at ease .I used to have probs with going properly and my bladder didnt empty properly .This used to cause bladder infection ..It was down to being anxious ..nothing else ..Its the same sort of thing that happens in a man .It s caused by tense muscles ..Im sure once you accept its nothing but anxiety ,you will start to go properly like I did ...Also mention the Amytriptyline to your Dr it could also be a factor ,T/c Sue xx

Why not schedule an appointment with a urologist and have a prostate exam? Yes, it's uncomfortable, but it would put your mind at rest.

I know how you feel mate. You're not dumb - it's just anxiety playing tricks on our minds and we've all been there. Meds have a lot to answer for...

You'll be fine, I promise.

Amitriptyline is famous for causing UR. In fact it's still used in bed-wetting for children. It's one of its ACh side effects.

It would be counter-productive to have such tests undertaken when there's such a compelling factor like amitriptyline use and UR.

If withdrawal of the drug doesn't solve the problem only then should such tests be carried out, in my opinion.

hello sue
i hear about that test, it sounds very romantic lol. when he put's his finger up there:scared15:
i also had blood test six weeks ago. so am sure if something was wrong,
something would have show up in that.

thank you ninja but if i get to see my doctor(highly unlikely) and he tells me not to worry i wont worry, so i go to him frist

cheers mel

Ah there you go. I guess I didn't have all the information since I didn't read your other threads. It is more than likely the amitryptyline causing it.
