Why do my periods make my mind and body feel so yucky!??!?

I suffer with PMT for about 10 days before I'm due on sometimes. yes I get bad period pain etc but its the psychological symptoms I just hate.
I feel edgy, really annoyed with everyone for no reason, spaced out and a bit unreal sometimes, and just generally anxious. That's putting it mildly.

Today my period has finally arrived and I feel sick, shakey, and my back is killing me [xx(]

Just wanted to have a moan!! and also wanted to know if anyone else really suffers psychologically during that time of the months?

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Wow. I was just thinking of starting a topic on PMT.

For me it's Pre and Post Menstral Tension. Yes I feel snappy and shout at my poor little kids for the most outrageous reasons. I then feel really guilty ...

But the worse bit for me is how my sleep suffers. I've mentioned being an insomniac before but it can be worse when my period is either due on or the week after I start.

Take last night for example. I took ages to fall asleep then I woke up and found it impossible to drift off again. I'm quite proud of myself for not having a major anxiety attack this morning. (THis time last year I would have been in floods of tears and believed I would never sleep "normally" again - whatever I mean by normal!)

I have got through the day by being honest with everyone at work and not trying to hide the fact I had a bad night. But as evening comes on I can feel that niggly feeling approaching - will I sleep tonight? will I cope tomorrow? what about Tuesday and Wednesday night when my Hubby is away?

I'm sorry - this has rather rambled on, but I needed to get it off my chest. Wish I could say I feel better but unfortunately...

And right now the last think I want to hear is:

"All you need is a good nights sleep."[Ugh][xx(]

PS - This is not my first month like this. And unfortunately I don't think this will be the last either...

I can so relate to this. I started my period around the age of ten. Thought by now I'd be able to cope with the aches and pains etc. Luckily i have irregular periods and i suppose half way to Menopause.

Really hate the lower back ache and how i mentally feel.

I'M NOT MYSELF WHEN I'M PRE MENSTRUAL and when I have worked in the past, it has really affected my performance.

Oh me too. I'm a total nightmare for about 10 days. I find my anxiety peaks with my temper. I'm either crying or shouting. It got so bad i went to the gp as i haven't always been like this (worse after my 3rd child). I have started taking citroplram for 10-12 days every month before i'm due. I don't know if its helping yet as i'm suffering all sorts of effects with stopping and starting taking it every month (month 3 now). But i suppose you have to try. Anyone else had this suggested?

Me to with these problems. I would say, I only get one good week in a month. Ive also got worse after my LAST (and I quote LAST) baby, Ive now got 5. I seem to have real bad headaches aswell. Mind you, thats probably the noise and stress:D

Feel free to PM me, if you want to talk.

My pmt and pains only began after my last child was born 3 and a half years ago and although I get short tempered and a horrendous sweet tooth, I'm lucky in that I don't really find it affects my anxiety. But yep, I generally feel yucky too!
