Hi,
I manage to deal with panic attacks most of the time except in extremely claustrophobic situations mainly flying and crowded trains.

I know I will be flying later this year and I am already thinking about it. Any tips on control of an extreme panic situation. Does anyone know about Beta-blockers or medication that I can take just to get me through it.

I have tried hyponotherapy, valium and herbal tablets but the extreme panic just takes over.

Any ideas would be gratefully read,
Thanks [8D]

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hypnotherapy worked for me.

Take a CD player and relaxation CD's, a puzzle book, rescue remedy and some food to eat and water to sip on.

Distraction is the key - keep busy the whole time.

Hi , I have been prescribed valium for flyuing, not everybodies ideal solution but as I said to Rois, I use blu tac when Im stressed, eg flying, waiting in places etc, just a small piece and pull it, squeeze it, mould it, anything. Wrap it in clingfilm though or plastic bag when finished or it goes all over your clothes. It is not obvious for others to see.
Also I have an elastic band on my wrist and a stress ball with lots of elastic bands on, incase I loose my wrist one, lol. I dont use them much now tho but the blue tac is a godsend, just a thought.Hope all goes well, take care. xxx

Most of lifes battles are won, by looking beyond the clouds to the sun:
and having the patience to wait for the day, when the sun comes out and the clouds go away.

You may want to try doing some of the cbt thought countering exercises like the tea form before you get on the plane and even during the flight if necessary. With practice they can really take the edge off of most anxious situations.
