Does anyone ever feel in the morning, or even at other times, that they have to keep taking a deep breath? I know the feeling of the tight chest, this is similar, but a little different. It just seems like I keep taking a deep breath in.

Also - do other people have trouble in the mornings in particular? I am always nervous when I get up.

Yes!! All the time. I think it's just too much shallow breathing and then your body sort of steps in to get the extra air it needs?

I used to do this a lot .I found it worse in the mornings and when I went to bed .Try doing 7/11 deep breathing before bed and when you wake .It really helps .It takes a while to get in a proper rythmn but gets easier the more you do it .I often fall back to sleep in the morning s because it is so relaxing ...lol  Sue x

Do you have days that you actually feel good? There are times during my day, usually later afternoon and into the evening that I sometimes feel pretty good. But during the day I usually am not feeling very well - I take 1 mg Ativan in the morning and a .5 about 6 hours later. I sometimes am headachy, tired, upset stomach.
I just wish I could feel good again.

Hey to answer the 7/11 thing
you breathe in through you nose for 7 seconds then out through your mouth for 11
it is difficult at first I found my body fighting against me, as if I couldn't breathe but give it a couple of minutes and it's brilliant.
Make sure you are brarhing properly as well, when you take a breath in your tummy should expand, this way you are using full lung capacity rather than chest breathing where you only use the top of your lungs.
Hope this helped xx

jothenurse, are you on anything other than ativan? Feeling terrible on waking then experiencing a lift later in the day are classic symptoms of depression.

I am currently tryingto work out if I am simply anxious or depressed as well. I feelreally unsure if I want to go back down the antidepressant road myself.

Alicegreen - I just take the ativan.
I was on a beta-blocker, but because my blood pressure was getting too low, they took me off of it. Now I'm afraid my heart will race again.

When I’m dealing with my depression, I used to eat vegetables and fruits, keeping busy, writing on my diary or journal, hanging out with my friends a lot, and meditating to release some sort of stress because of depression. However, if this simple information won't work for you ask a specialist about it, and they could give you enough advises that you can deal with.
